Friends we’ve met along the way

Lai ‘The Chinese tea master’

Lai

We met Lai in his tea shop in Melaka, he sat with us and took us through a 2 hour tea tasting session. He got us ‘tea drunk’… seriously.

Yanti

Yanti and her lovely family let us stay with them during our time on the Kinabatangan River. They fed us amazing food and took us on boat trips to see the amazing wildlife in the area.

Dr Hibbert AKA Justin

Dr Hibbert, the man who saved the day

Dr Hibbert, the man who saved the day

We nicknamed Justin “Dr Hibbert” for his constant laughing at our misfortune after we managed to leave our bags on a public bus in the middle of the Borneo jungle. Justin was a taxi driver who came to the rescue and managed to track down our bags and save the day… LEGEND!

Mr San Francisco

Hello, my name is Francisco, like San Francisco....

Hello, my name is Francisco, like San Francisco….

Francisco was a larger than life Chilean character we had the pleasure of spending time with in both Laos and Thailand. Always a lot of fun Francisco’s positive vibe made situations like a 20km walk in flip flops an entertaining day out.

Andy ‘where are the ladies’ Mckenzie

We met Andy on the slow boat to Luang Prabang and ended up travelling with him for the next 2 months across Laos and Cambodia. A great guy who’s appreciation and dedication of chasing the ladies kept the stories and laughs flowing for a good 8 weeks.
